Stars confirm Ngele stay

Rustenburg - Despite recent reports stating that Mamelodi Sundowns have signed Platinum Stars midfielder Mogakolodi Ngele, Dikwena‘s Football manager Senzo Mazingiza revealed that the Botswana international is set to extend his contract with the North West Tycoons.

The reigning ABSA Premiership champions were rumoured to have acquired the services of the 23-year-old and also decided to loan him back to Stars on a season-long deal.

However, Mazingiza dismissed the allegations in an exclusive interview with Sport24 on Friday, revealing that “Tsotso” has committed his future to Stars.

Mazingiza also hinted that the pacey winger will feature in the colours of Stars when they take on Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-finals on Saturday afternoon.

“I haven’t read anything about Tsotso Ngele going to Sundowns,” said Mazingiza.

“He is still our player as we speak. He is still part of our team and he is currently training with us. He even said it himself that he is happy to be here.

“You could have seen that when we launched our new kit that he is proud to be with this team. The management team is currently negotiating with him on his new contract. But he is still contracted to us and intending to extend his stay.

“Tomorrow we are playing against Sundowns and he will be on the field of play. Maybe people will then understand or accept that he is a Platinum Stars player when they see him on the pitch. He will be playing for us next season.”

Dikwena will travel to Loftus Versfeld to meet the Brazilians as they aim to defend the title they won last season.

History favours Dikwena heading into the encounter as they have lost only one game to the Pretoria giants in their last nine clashes.

The match is due to commence at 15:30 on Saturday.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
