Johannesburg - Platinum Stars and Maritzburg United could not find a goal between them as their clash ended in a 0-0 draw at Moruleng Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Stars were on fire from the start, with Bradley Grobler, Joseph Malongoane and Dillon Sheppard all on target within the first 15 minutes.

Maritzburg goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters was kept busy throughout the opening stanza but, while the hosts, spearheaded by midfielder Sheppard, repeatedly threatened to break through, the home team's defence held strong.

United's Diyo Sibisi had their first real chance in the 16th minute but his effort was saved by Stars goalminder Tapiwa Kapini. Sibisi had two more opportunities within the first half hour but thundered both shots over the bar.

Maritzburg were more aggressive in the second half and, while they managed to close down the Stars attack, they were unable to capitalise by finding the back of the net.

Both sides pushed forward with the clock ticking, with Stars taking four shots in additional time, but neither managed to find the back of the net as they walked away with one point a piece.
