St Michel ready to fight

Cape Town - Seychelles champions St Michel United are not in the CAF Champions League just to make up the numbers this season.

St Michel will open their campaign with a fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns in February and while the South African club are overwhelming favourites to win that match, their opponents are confident they will give a good account of themselves during their home clash at the Stad Linite Stadium - a venue which has seen the Indian Ocean outfit achieve great success.

"When we were informed that we will play with a team in the region, we expected a team from the Indian Ocean, but not South Africa," St Michel coach Ralph Jean-Louis told the Seychelles News Agency on Wednesday.

"It is going to be a challenge for us but nevertheless we will play against them.

"We have been preparing for the match since last year and I have high hopes that we can give them a good game. For us, as long as we can still win games and cups, we want to uphold the honour of Seychelles Football and the sport.

"We are in the competition and we will fight to score and prevent ourselves from being eliminated in the first instance."
