Sono to keep coaching Cosmos

2012-05-18 11:05

Johannesburg - Jomo Cosmos owner Jomo Sono says he will not relinquish the coaching reins despite supervising the club's second relegation from the Premiership in three years.

Ezenkosi, who were promoted last term, will face another spell in the National First Division, with a 2-2 draw against Black Leopards sealing their fate in midweek.

Sono, who doubles as Cosmos manager, believes he alone can ensure a swift return to the top flight.

"Why do we have to fire the coach? He has done nothing wrong. It's just that we were unfortunate this season," said Sono in the Sowetan.

"Cosmos have been relegated to the First Division because we did not have an experienced striker, or strikers, to score more goals.

"I'm still proud of these boys. Despite the fact that we have been relegated, we played very well during the season, but the problem of not scoring goals has resulted in us getting too many draws (13).

"We are keeping the coach (because) I'm the only person who can get Cosmos back into the Premiership," he said. "Even Jose Mourinho would not survive. Cosmos will be back in the Premiership shortly," concluded the Black Prince.

Jomo does not learn from his mistakes. He is just arrogant.

There should be a rule against clubs who always get regulated. It means that they are not psl material.

Good bye Mjomana, I will miss your celebrations.

Jomo doesn't get it. Kaiser Chiefs and Pirates are getting billions in sponsorships not because they are coached by the founders, but because they get the coaches who deliver results and when they don't, they are fired. 'Its only me who can'...Really? Sounds like one president north of the Limpopo. He should be ashamed of himself. To be happy about just being relegated is shameful from an ex-footballer of his standing.

The owners of Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates made their money from football. Although how Khoza came about owning Pirates is a mystery. Still, Jomo Sono made his money from business. He was one of the best players that SA produced. Rather than sit in a fancy office and make money from football, he, as an ex player still wants to be close to and involved with the game of football - the game of football, not the business of football. What's wrong with that? When Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates win its all about tills ringing and dollar signs. When Cosmos win its a much more fullfilling experience for Jomo Sono. Incidentally, that is the problem with football generally today. Too many money-grabbing folk and not enough people down on the ground just getting on with the job of playing football. As long as he is enjoying the experience, Jomo Sono should continue doing what he does.

So Jomo is better than Mourinho, just as I thought, lol. Which is why Real Madrid are desperate to get Sono to win La Liga once the Special One has left lol.

Its a tax thing guys. He owns the players, buys & sells them like sheep and takes a salary, why would you change. You think soccer is about sport, its about MONEY.

All he is interested on is to collect First National Division trophies.

Mr. Sono has to swallow his pride n fire the coach. Jomo was a star on the field, bt cnt make it on the benchline. Mjoman all the best in the next campaign. Hope to c u soon on Psl.

this man is doing a disservice to his legacy, the team has potential to be competing for top honors, he should realise that there are different types of leaders in a companies or organisational growth. He has done his part he should give the Swallows coach and seat and watch his team being transformed into a competetive outfit. Chris Gaza (www.gazalovespells.com)
