Ezenkosi, defeated 2-0 by Moroka Swallows on Tuesday, are reluctant favourites to go down, as they are four points behind second-bottom Black Leopards, and six short of escaping the drop zone.
And with 10 games left, time is running out for Cosmos, who fell out of the top flight at the end of the 2009/10 campaign.
Sono, however, remains defiantly optimistic.
"The situation we're in at the moment is not peculiar, so we cannot press the panic button because of suggestions in some quarters that we might go down," Sono told his club's website.
"I want to state emphatically that we're not getting relegated at the end of the season. There are still 10 games to the end, and 10 big reasons why Cosmos will not be relegated."
Reflecting on the Dube Birds defeat, Sono felt inexperience cost his team on the night.
"Indeed we missed the experience of players like Chawe in goal, and the calmness of Mark Haskins and Katleho Loke in midfield," he said.
"But we're not relenting in our efforts to ensure that these players regain their fitness on time ahead of the next game."
The Black Prince's outfit next visit mid-table Wits at Bidvest Stadium on 28 March.
