Johannesburg - Santos coach Boebie Solomons has warned title-chasing SuperSport and Mamelodi Sundowns that his men plan to put the duo's celebrations on hold for this season.
The People's Team will face both Matsatsantsa (Tuesday night) and the Brazilians (on Sunday) before the curtain closes on the 2009/2010 campaign and the Cape side could have a big say in the race for league honours.
Santos are 11 points adrift of leaders SuperSport, while Downs are three points off the pace with a vital game in hand.
After the 1-0 defeat to Platinum Stars, Solomons admitted his men are no longer thinking about the title, unless they can scupper the PSL's frontrunners.
"We are not even thinking about the championship. We are determined to beat both United and Sundowns and then anything can happen," he told SAPA.
"We have our destiny in our own hands, but we have to collect six points from the next two matches."
Solomons does not fear the firepower that SuperSport and Sundowns boast, but is instead concerned about the officials who will handle the crucial matches.
"We have had a really good penalty claim disallowed against Stars, which was not an isolated incident," he added.
"My biggest fear is who will referee our next games because there is little consistency and we have not been getting the rub of the green. "All I ask for is a fair crack of the whip from the match officials and we will do the rest on the pitch."
Santos have enjoyed their games against the defending champions in recent years and want to steal more points off them in midweek.
"United have a great coach in Gavin Hunt and they also have tremendous individual players, but they are not unbeatable and that is a point we aim to prove on Tuesday night."
"We played well against Stars and should have won 10-1, but missed far too many chances. We need to stick those chances away against SuperSport and keep the title race alive," concluded Solomons.
