Pretoria - A 26-year-old soccer player who was caught speeding at 188km/h on the N1, appeared briefly in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Jeffrey Ntuka's matter was postponed to Tuesday for further investigation.
Gauteng Traffic Police spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo said the player was arrested on Sunday near Vanderbijlpark and was released on a R1 000 bail the same day.
"He was driving at 188km/h and claimed he was on his way to his sick child in Kroonstad," said Nxumalo.
Ntuka is a defender for SuperSport United and has played 10 matches for the South African national Under-23 side.
