Slumping Ajax face fresh Bucs

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates will look to return to winning ways in the Absa Premiership when they host Ajax Cape Town at Orlando Stadium.

Pirates played to a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in midweek, extending their winless run in the league to four matches.

The Soweto giants have claimed eight points from seven home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Moroka Swallows (away), Bloemfontein Celtic (home) and AmaZulu (away).

The Buccaneers are placed ninth on the PSL log with 19 points from 14 matches.

Ajax’s unbeaten run of four matches came to an end in midweek when they were defeated 4-2 at Bidvest Wits.

The Cape Town side has claimed six points from seven away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are AmaZulu (home), Mamelodi Sundowns (away) and Polokwane City (home).

The Urban Warriors are placed fourth on the Premiership log with 23 points from 15 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Pirates and Ajax have met in 30 league matches since 1999/2000.

 The Buccaneers have 16 wins compared to six for the Urban Warriors, while eight matches have been drawn.

Pirates have won 11 of their 15 home matches against Ajax, suffering just two defeats in the process.

Kick-off is at 20:15 on Saturday, December 13.
