Siyabonga Nkosi, Musa Bilankulu and Songwe Chalwe netted for the home team, while Stars’ goals were down to a brace from Bradley Grobler and one from Henrico Botes.
Arrows opened the scoring after just seven minutes, with Siyabonga Nkosi scoring easily from close range after Stars goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini had parried a shot from Philani Shange.
The hosts’ lead lasted just 12 minutes, as Dikwena brought themselves level through Bradley Grobler in the 19th minute. The striker latched onto a long ball out of defence from Kapini and beat Thulasizwe Khuzwayo to make it 1-1.
Abafana Bes’thende reclaimed the lead on 24 minutes, as defender Musa Bilankulu turned home a corner kick from Njabulo Manqana to make it 2-1. The Arrows centre-back capitalised on some weak marking at the set piece by Stars.
The sides traded scoring opportunities in what remained of the first half, and both Kapini and Khuzwayo had to make some excellent saves, but the score remained 2-1 in favour of Arrows at the half time break.
Stars made it 2-2 just seven minutes into the second stanza, as Grobler completed his brace with a low shot from the edge of the box.
Arrows reacted well to the goal, creating several good scoring opportunities in an effort to reclaim the lead for the third time in the game, but it was in fact the visitors who nosed ahead in the 69th minute when striker Henrico Botes turned home a pass from Grobler to make it 3-2.
The hosts, having to come from behind for the first time in the game, earned a penalty in the 76th minute when Stanley Kgatla was blown up for handling the ball in the 18-yard area. Substitute Songwe Chalwe converted the spot kick to make it 3-3 with just 12 minutes to play.
Both teams tried to add to the score line in what remained of the game, but there were no further goals. The result leaves Arrows in 10th on 27 points, while Stars are just one point behind in 11th.
