Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana will both be breathing a sigh of relief with the news that midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala's injury is not as bad as was first expected.
Shabba was forced to leave the field after he was kicked on the hip during Bafana Bafana's goalless draw with Sierra Leone in Freetown.
It was initially feared that the 26-year-old would spend a lengthy spell on the sidelines, however, the former Free Star Stars ace underwent a scan on Tuesday which revealed that he has only sustained some bruising to his hip.
But the Amakhosi star is not expected to be ready in time for Chief's clash with Platinum Stars on Saturday night at the Rand Stadium.
"I'm glad no bone in my body is broken or anything dangerous like that," Shabba told TimesLive.
"I might miss out on this weekend's match because I need some time to recover; my body still hurts."
Bafana team doctor Ephraim Nematswerani admitted that he feared that Tshabalala had torn ligaments, but confirmed that these fears had been allayed after the scan.
"We thought something was broken and that he had torn some ligaments," said Nematswerani.
"But that proved not to be the case. We are still waiting for further reports from the MRI scan even though we know the injury is not as worrying as we thought."
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs physiotherapist Dave Milner has revealed the full extent of Siphiwe Tshabalala's that further test results on the player will come to light later this week.
The winger is expected to make a return to action when Chiefs face Amazulu in the Telkom Knockout October 22.
