Sikhakhane wants more away wins

Port Elizabeth - Chippa United coach Roger Sikhakhane urged his side to string together a stretch of positive results on the road after their win over Polokwane City.

The Chilli Boys enjoyed their 2-1 triumph over Rise and Shine in an Absa Premiership clash played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium thanks to goals from Lerato Manzini and Aristide Bance.

Sikhakhane said their win over City will be a confident booster for his charges ahead of their Telkom Knock-Out opener against Mamelodi Sundowns this coming weekend.

“I think it was a good result for us and it was what we needed most on the day," said Sikhakhane

“And I believe that it’s going to help us gain confidence heading to the upcoming games. But we have to stop the mentality of winning home games only, we must also do well playing away from home.

“We knew Polokwane City are very comfortable on the ball, so that’s why we used Thamsanqa (Sangweni) in the middle just to calm things down.

“And we also knew that we’ll win the match, we were confident but I didn’t know what the score line would be.

“But Polokwane City gave us a good run despite being a man down. But credit must also go to my boys, they did exceptionally well and I’m proud of them.

A win for the Port Elizabeth based side moved them to the 9th spot on the log while City remained 12th.

The Chilli Boys will switch their focus to the Ziwa Mo competition as they will face 'Downs at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, October 3.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
