Sikhakhane defends tactics

Port Elizabeth - Chippa United caretaker coach Roger Sikhakhane has praised his sides’ defence for keeping Orlando Pirates at bay in their biggest win of the season so far over the weekend.

The newly promoted side continued with their winning ways when they caused an upset on the Buccaneers faces, defeating them 1-0, thanks to a brilliant David Zulu strike after a piece of individual brilliance at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

Sikhakhane did not hide his defensive tactics as he has admitted that his technical team were unsettled by the Buccaneers attack from the first minute, which resulted in the Chilli Boys adding an extra defender.

"It was a great game of football in the end," said Sikhakhane.

"Pirates attacked us from the very first whistle until the last, but we managed to beat them and also kept a clean sheet for a second game running.

"We then got unsettled by the Pirates attacking style in the second half.

"We sat as a technical team at half time and decide to replace one striker and add a defensive midfielder.

"We did that tactical change so that we could stop their (Pirates) attack.

"And we managed to walk away with the maximum points at the end of the game, which is what we needed," he concluded.
