Shabba: Komphela has been helpful

Cape Town - Siphiwe Tshabalala has revealed that the preparations for the MTN8 quarterfinals are going very well.

Tshabalala, who is now captain for Amakhosi said that a lot of players in the team have leadership qualities and the 'Captains Committee' is helping young players in the team grow.

"The preparation has gone well and the Coach [Komphela] has collected info to help us through this journey. We are looking forward to the game," Tshabalala said on the Kaizer Chiefs website.

"We want to defend our trophy and our mission. We do have a lot of players with leadership qualities in the team. That's why we have the Captains Committee."

'Shabba' added that the Carling Black Label Cup derby against Pirates was tough but the team hasn’t allowed the defeat to deter them on their mission to defend their MTN8 title.

"We help the younger players to grow in the team. We are a team and we share a common goal. We know our responsibility is to win and bring glory to the club.

"The game against Pirates was tough," said the scorer of one of the penalties during the Carling Black Label Cup derby on Saturday.

"With penalties it happens everywhere, big players in the world do miss penalties in big games. What is important is what you do after.

"We had a good time in our preparations with the new players. We have mixed well and are all ready for Wednesday. The journey starts on Wednesday."

Amakhosi take on Maritzburg United on Wednesday, 5 August at the FNB Stadium.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
