Johannesburg - Ajax Cape Town midfielder Thulani Serero was bitterly disappointed to have drawn 4-4 with Mamelodi Sundowns in their Premier Soccer League top-of-the-table clash on Wednesday night.
Serero was named 'Man of the Match' for yet another rousing performance but despite having helped his side go into a three-goal advantage, a young Urban Warriors side saw their lead slip and they ultimately had to settle for a share of the spoils.
The 20-year-old scored a superb solo goal as he picked up the ball just inside the Sundowns half before driving at full pace down the left flank and into the box where he slipped his shot past a hapless Wayne Sandilands.
After being handed his super-sized cheque, the Soweto-born star admitted he expected his side to hold on to their lead.
He said after the game: "From our point of view I'm not happy at all, we were supposed to win the game. I'm not happy with a point and I am sure everyone is disappointed."
Serero felt that after taking such a commanding lead some of the Ajax players lost their concentration.
"I think defensively we were not focused. We had just scored a goal so we can't then go and concede a goal at the other end. We scored and got excited but I'm disappointed, we should have won this game," he added.
