Schut wins big at Downs event

Pretoria - Mamelodi Sundowns captain Alje Schut was the biggest winner at the club's awards ceremony for the 2013/2014 season on Sunday evening in Pretoria.

After a seven year Premiership title drought, the champions celebrated their title winning season at a ceremony at the Heartfelt Arena.

The Dutch defender, Schut, who was also a nominee for the PSL player of the season, bagged total prize money of R425 000 - R250 000 for the player of the season and R175 000 for the player's player of the season.

Midfielder Teko Modise won the outstanding player of the season award and walked away with R175 000.

Bongani Zungu was awarded the young player of the season which had a R100 000 prize.

Top goal-scorer Katlego Mashego was rewarded for his goal poaching abilities throughout the season with R150 000.

Club stalwarts Surprise Moriri and Esrom Nyandoro were handed R150 000 apiece by club president Patrice Motsepe for their dedication to Sundowns over the years.

Coach Pitso Mosimane was handed the president's award - a sum of R250 000, for guiding the club to the Premiership title.
