Mamelodi Sundowns defender Alje Schut is confident that the team will end the season in the top eight.
In what has been a lackluster season for the Chloorkop-based side, Sundowns moved into the top half of the Absa Premiership table last weekend, following their 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium.
Schut, who scored in the dying minutes of the game to hand Downs the three points, says that they will achieve their objective of ending the campaign within the top eight. He said that beating Pirates was key in reaching their goal.
“We will achieve our objectives of finishing in top eight. We wanted to win on Saturday and push in the top eight so that in the last game against Wits we can just wrap up.
“We know it won't be easy but we will fight in that last game to get the three points. We need the three points to achieve our objective,” Schut concluded.
Sundowns face Wits in their final league outing of the season, when they host them at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
