Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates defender Siyabonga Sangweni has escaped without any injuries following his horrific car crash in Johannesburg on Sunday.
The club spokesperson Mickey Modisane has confirmed the news to Sport24 in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.
Modisane also revealed that despite the player being fit and in perfect health, his BMW vehicle he was driving has been written off.
"He (Sangweni) is fine and he is in good health.
"His car was smashed yes, and it has been written off.
"But the player is 100% fit and he is training with the rest of the team."
The Empangeni-born man marker’s accident makes him the third player to be involved in an accident after Rooi Mahamutsa and Lehlohonolo Majoro were also involved in accidents recently.
All three players’ cars were written off.
Sangweni is currently wearing the captain’s arm band for the Soweto giants in the absence of Lucky Lekgwathi, who is out with an ankle injury.
