Sangweni staying at Pirates

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates defender Siyabonga Sangweni looks set to stay at the club despite being linked with Mamelodi Sundowns.

According to a Sundowns official, the 32-year-old was last seen at Chloorkop offices, but any deal with Sundowns seems to have hit a snag as Pirates still want him to stay at Parktown.

“I can say what the chairman [Irvin Khoza] said, that Sangweni will be staying with us,” Orlando Pirates administrator Floyd Mbele told KickOff.com website.

“But once everything has settled we will be able to give full details. Players will report for pre-season at the end of June.”

It is not clear when Sangweni's contract with Pirates expires. KickOff.com contacted ProSport International’s Mike Makaab and Alban Newman but they were unavailable for comments.
