According to Soccer Laduma, Sangweni’s exit from Orlando sparked interesting speculation with Mamelodi Sundowns favourites to secure his services.

The 32-year-old met up with the Buccaneers midway through pre-season and featured in eight matches for Pirates.

Sangweni joined Pirates at the start of the 2011/12 season from Golden Arrows, appearing over 140 times for Abafana Bes'thende.

'Nsimbi' as he is affectionately known has signed a two-year contract with a one-year option which Pirates can trigger whenever.

Meanwhile the Buccaneers are in action on Sunday, September 7 in the Ke Yona Challenge.
