SSU out to halt Wits run

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits will look to keep up their good Absa Premiership form when they host SuperSport United at the Bidvest Stadium.

Wits played to their third draw of the season when they were held to a goalless stalemate at Platinum Stars on Sunday.

The Johannesburg side has claimed 16 points from eight home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are University of Pretoria, Maritzburg United and Moroka Swallows (all away).

The Clever Boys are placed second on the Premiership log with 27 points from 16 matches.

SuperSport extended their winless run in the league to four matches with a 1-1 home draw against Polokwane City.

The Tshwane side has claimed seven points from six away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Chippa United (away), Free State Stars (home) and Black Aces (away).

Matsatsantsa are placed 11th on the PSL log with 17 points from 14 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Wits and SuperSport have met in 45 league matches since 1990.

Matsatsantsa have 14 wins compared to 13 for the Clever Boys, while 18 matches have been drawn.

Wits have won six of 22 home matches against United, suffering six defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Clever Boys claimed a 1-0 away win thanks to a goal from Ngcobo.
