SSU in quest to cement top 8 place

Cape Town - SuperSport United will look to secure a place in the top eight of the Absa Premiership when they face Polokwane City at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Polokwane suffered a fourth defeat from their last five matches when they went down 3-1 away to Platinum Stars in midweek.

The Limpopo side has claimed 19 points from 14 home matches this season.

Rise and Shine are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with 34 points from 29 matches.

SuperSport suffered a second loss from their last three matches when they were beaten 2-1 at home by Mamelodi Sundowns in midweek.

The Tshwane side has claimed 20 points from 14 away matches this season.

Matsatsantsa are placed seventh on the Absa Premiership log with 38 points from 29 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Polokwane and SuperSport have met in three league matches since 2013/14.

United have claimed one win, while the other two matches have ended in draws.

Polokwane’s only previous home league match against SuperSport was a 1-1 draw in the first half of last season.

When the teams met earlier this season, goals from Grobler and Ndou saw the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Kick-off is at 15:00 on Saturday, May 9.
