SAFA backs Pirates in Africa

Cape Town - The South African Football Association (SAFA) has wished Orlando Pirates well in their clash against AC Leopards in a CAF Confederations Cup Group B clash in Dolisie in Congo, Brazzaville this weekend.

The match will take place at the Stade Dennis Sassou Nguesso on Sunday.

According to SAFA website, Pirates depart on Thursday, June 25 and expected back in the country on Monday, June 29.

"We would like to take this opportunity to wish Orlando Pirates the best of luck in the opening match of their group stages clash in the CAF Confederation Cup," ” said SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan.

"They have shown they have what it takes to go all the way and we are confident they will fly the South African flag high.

"While it is not going to be easy, it is important to make solid start to any campaign, especially when playing away. We urge all South Africans, irrespective which club they belong to, to rally behind the Buccaneers."

Elsewhere, five South African match officials have been appointed to take charge of the CAF Champions League 2015 encounter between TP Mazembe (Congo DR) and El Hilal (Sudan).

The match will take place on Sunday, June 28 in Lubumbashi, Congo DR.

Kick-off is at 16:30 (SA time).
