SA stars shine in Europe

Cape Town - South Africa's soccer stars featured prominently across European leagues this weekend as the country's talent continues to shine.

According to Soccer Laduma, it was another excellent weekend for South African players abroad as many of the country's stars featured for their respective club sides.

Here is how the following South African players fared:

Andile Jali (K.V. Oostende) - Jali was back from Bafana Bafana action and he went straight into Oostende's side. He lasted 75 minutes in his side's thrilling 5-3 victory against Standard Liege.

Darren Keet (KV Kortrijk) - Keet was in goals as his side lost 3-2 at home against Ayanda Patosi's Lokeren.

May Mahlungu (IFK Göteborg - Sweden) - Mahlangu played the entire game as his side were held to a 0-0 against IF Elfsborg.

Kamohelo Mokotjo (FC Twente - Netherlands) - Mokotjo was booked during his side's 2-1 win over Go Ahead Eagles in the top flight of Dutch football.

Anele Ngcongca (Racing Genk - Belgium) - Anele played the full 90 minutes as his side drew 1-11 at home against Club Brugges.

Thulani Serero (Ajax Amsterdam) - Left out by Shakes Mashaba, Thulani Serero continues to be a constant starter for Dutch giants Ajax as they overcame Heracles 2-1.

Siyanda Xulu (FC Rostov - Russia) - The South African defender was on the losing side as Rostov suffered a 2-1 home loss against Rubin Kazan.

Unfortunately several other South African players were left out of by their sides over the weekend, these players include the likes of Dean Furman (Doncaster Rovers - England), Tokelo Rantie (Bournemouth - England), Ayanda Patosi (Lokeren - Belgium), Daylon Claasen (1860 Munich - Germany) and Kagisho Dikgacoi (Cardiff City - England).

Former Bafana Bafana star Steven Pienaar remains on the sidelines at English Premiership side Everton following the groin injury he picked up during the clash against Arsenal in August.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
