Rosslee quits Ajax Cape Town

Cape Town - The seemingly blissful marriage between Ajax Cape Town and coach Craig Rosslee broke down irrevocably on Saturday when the latter quit in a huff after apparently discovering that Muhsin Ertugral has been appointed coach of the “Urban Warriors” next season.

But in the process Ajax will also lose two of their top players who form the spine of the team with striker Mabhudi Khenyeza’s long running feud with Ertugral well known while central defender Eduwardo Ferreira reportedly claiming he might quit the club as well.

Although Kaizer Chiefs have not officially informed Ertugral that his touchline antics are no longer required, the body language has been obvious that he was no longer needed at Naturena and rather than wait for Kaizer Motaung to pull the trigger, Ertugral has walked the walk.

We predicted during the week that Ertugral was headed down south to link up with Ajax and late on Friday, our sources reveal that the Cape side finalized a deal with the current Chiefs coach and informed Rosslee about the technical changes for next season.

However, on being informed about the impeding arrival of Ertugral at Ikamva, Rosslee is alleged to have walked out of the team and has joined the list of the unemployed. Rosslee is alleged to have refused to sit on the bench in the club’s final two matches including the crunch tie against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday.

Sadly, Ajax is also set to lose leading striker Khenyeza as the former Chiefs and Lamontville Golden Arrows hitman revealed exclusively that if it was indeed true that Ertugral was rejoining Ajax Cape Town, then he will definitely request the club to put him up for sale.

“I have said this before, and perhaps I need to repeat that I cannot work with Ertugral,” said Khenyeza. “I’m afraid if Ertugral is coming to Ajax, then I will request the club to leave. I have not been informed about the latest development.

“But obviously I cannot ignore the rumors and if it is true then I am leaving. I do not want to make rash decisions right now. But we will probably be informed about the developments but my feelings about Ertugral are well known.”

Khenyeza terminated his contract with Chiefs less than six months after signing for Amakhosi from Arrows following unending clashes with the temperamental coach with the player claiming he would not stand by and allow another man to insult him.

“If you want me to respect you, then respect me first,” said Khenyeza at the time with a reference to the coach. “I am a professional and I know what is required of me as a professional soccer player. I am also a human being and a man. And I cannot allow another man to insult me.”

And not only Khenyeza is leaving the club due to the arrival of Ertugral but Brazilian central defender Eduardo Ferreira is said to have been a little upset and has also made it known that he might leave as well.

Ferreira has been one of the mainstays of the “Urban Warriors” and his tactical awareness has won him praise from even die-hard South African followers who have urged him to take up citizenship in order to feature for Bafana Bafana in both the Confederation Cup and World Cup finals.
