Cape Town - Bafana Bafana defender Rivaldo Coetzee has inked a one-year extension with Ikamva club Ajax Cape Town.

According to Soccer Laduma, Coetzee signed the contract which will keep him at the Urban Warriors till end of June 2017.

This will alert many as earlier this year the 18-year-old was invited to have a trial at Ajax Amsterdam which Roger de Sa then confirmed that the player is likely to leave sooner rather than later.

“I’ve always said that he’s in pencil on my board because I feel like it’s a matter of time before he goes. I think this season will be his last season,” said De Sa.

The former Bidvest Wits coach rules out a longer stay and confirms it will be his last PSL season.

“He won’t be in the PSL for too long. He’ll go up, and the quicker he does that the better he’ll become.”

The extension is likely to boost the Coetzee’s market value which is what the Urban Warriors CEO, Ari Efstathiou would want.

Meanwhile, this weekend Ajax welcome SuperSport United to Athlone Stadium on Sunday, December 7 in an Absa Premiership encounter.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
