Rise and Shine, Usuthu draw

Polokwane - AmaZulu striker Bornwell Mwape scored twice to help his side earn a 2-2 draw away to Polokwane City in their Absa Premiership match at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Rise and Shine twice went ahead through a penalty by Roggert Nyundu and an own goal by Larry Horaeb, but Mwape’s brace ensured a share of the points for Usuthu.

Polokwane got off to a flying start, with Roggert Nyundu converting a penalty in the fourth minute to put the home side 1-0 up. The spot kick was awarded after AmaZulu defender Carlington Nyadombo handled the ball in the 18-yard area.

Just a couple of minutes later the Durban side could have levelled the scores from a penalty of their own after John Arwuah was brought down in the box by Thapelo Tshilo, but Nyadombo missed the spot kick.

However, on the half hour mark Usuthu levelled the game at 1-1. Paul Ooko created a chance for striker Bornwell Mwape, who beat Dino Visser with a right-footed shot.

The match went to half-time with the teams locked at 1-1, but it took less than 20 minutes of the second stanza for Polokwane to move back in front. This time it was an own goal from Larry Horaeb which put the home side 2-1 ahead.

A third penalty in the match arrived with less than a quarter hour play. This time City goalkeeper Dino Visser was the guilty party, bringing down Mwape in the box. Mwape brushed himself off and scored the penalty to make it 2-2.
