Preview: SuperSport v Free State

Cape Town - Free State Stars head to the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, October 4 confident that they can beat SuperSport United to progress in the Telkom Knockout.

When the two teams met in the league in August it was Ea Lla Koto who overcame a two-goal deficit to claim a 3-2 victory.

Since then the men from the Free State have claimed seven points from four matches to sit in sixth position in the standings.

This has been achieved without the assistance of a number of regulars who have been sidelined. Daouda Diakite (knee), Rudolf Bester (hamstring), and Daniel Cardoso (stress fracture) continue to be ruled out by injury.

"This is an opportunity for us to take the confidence we have gained in the league and use it to ignite a great domestic cup campaign,” Stars’ coach Tom Saintfiet.

“This is the first cup competition for the season and we want to make it as far as we can."

Like their visitors, SuperSport have enjoyed a good run of form of late, with Matsatsantsa unbeaten in new head coach Gordon Igesund's two matches at the helm.

Igesund will have the services of captain Thabo September available to him for the weekend's clash after the defender was forced to make do with a place among the replacements last time out.

The game is scheduled for a 15:00 kick-off.
