Cape Town - Two teams currently finding form will go head to head as
Platinum Stars host Bidvest Wits at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on
Sunday.
READ: Wits target Dikwena scalp.
Stars, in 12th place on the Premiership standings, have taken four points from their last two games, and put up an impressive showing in their 2-2 draw with unbeaten Kaizer Chiefs earlier this week.
The Telkom Knockout losing finalists will be relishing a return to their home base at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, having played their last four matches on the road.
Strikers Eleazar Rodgers and Ndumiso Mabena are very much amongst the goals, with 12 between them this season in all competitions, and will certainly give Clever Boys coach Gavin Hunt some issues to ponder as he plans for the game.
Stars coach Allan Freese does however have some personnel concerns. Defender Thabiso Semenya is out suspended, while goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane is on the injured list. Defender Vuyo Mere has a slight chance of returning after he missed the Chiefs game, while Sibusiso Msomi faces a late fitness test.
The Students, meanwhile, have clean bill of health for this game, and go into Sunday’s showdown boosted by a 4-2 victory over Ajax Cape Town, which saw a hat-trick from Bafana Bafana midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi.
The win over the Urban Warriors was their fourth victory in five outings and took the Johannesburg outfit up to second spot.
However, still trailing Chiefs by 11 points, Hunt and his men cannot afford anything less than maximum points from what should be a hard-fought battle in the heat of the North West.
