Cape Town - With Free State Stars hovering dangerously above the relegation zone, their aim against Ajax Cape Town on Tuesday will be nothing less than maximum points.

Every available point at this point in the season is crucial for Stars, who are two points above the relegation chop with AmaZulu breathing down their necks.

Stars have been less than impressive this season as they have struggled to string together a good run of form to put themselves in a good position in the Premiership table.

In 25 league matches Stars have accumulated 25 points and will be desperate to start moving up the table as the season nears its conclusion.

Stars are in 14th position in the league standings, but are not home and dry yet as the points difference between the bottom-half continues to shrink.

At Goble Park, Stars will be up against an in-form Ajax outfit who have won four of their last five league games.

The sixth-placed Ajax came out tops the last time the two sides met, recording a 2-1 win in the first round in Cape Town earlier this season.

Stars, meanwhile, have one win in their last five league matches. Ea Lla Koto recently broke a string of poor performances with a 3-2 win against Polokwane City in the league.

The Urban Warriors' objective, meanwhile, is to consolidate their place in the top eight. With 37 points, Ajax are 23 points adrift of league leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
