Pre-season training for refs

Johannesburg - It's not only the Premier Soccer League (PSL) players that are preparing for the new season, with the country's top referees set to undergo a refresher course later this month.

Sixty match officials from the PSL and National First Division will gather in Johannesburg in mid-July to undergo a series of fitness tests, as well as a course to help shake off any cobwebs that may have settled since the end of last term.

The course is set to run from July 16 to 18, although a successful fitness test is necessary before any official will be allowed entrance to the seminar.

The course will be run by world football's governing body FIFA, while there will also be a course for match commissioners from July 14 to 15.
