Polokwane deny Mhlongo link

Polokwane - Despite reports linking outgoing Platinum Stars defender, Benson Mhlongo with a move to Polokwane City, the club have not had any contact with the player.

City's spokesperson Patrick Baloyi has admitted that their team could benefit from the veteran’s arrival at their camp, should they per sue his signature,  but there are no talks between the two parties up to this stage.

Mhlongo’s contract with Dikwena is due to elapse at the end of June and the former Bafana Bafana man has been linked with a possible move to Rise and Shine and the newly promoted side Chippa United.

"A rumour is just a rumour," Baloyi said.

"At the moment, we don’t know anything regarding Benson (Mhlongo) joining the club.

"Yes he is a good player with plenty of experience and it would be an honour for us to have him in our team.

"But there is no contact between him and the team.

"There will be players coming in now in the off-season but up to this stage we can’t talk about that.

The Alexandra-born player led Dikwena to a glorious cup double during the 2013/14 season, winning the MTN8 competition and the Telkom Knockout.
