Cape Town - Polokwane City will be out to try and consolidate their top eight position when they host struggling Free State Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
Stars, on the other hand, are in dire need of points, the Free Staters currently on equal points (22) with the side at the bottom of the Premiership table, Moroka Swallows, although they do have a game in hand.
Rise and Shine head into Saturday’s encounter on the back of a 2-0 midweek defeat to lowly AmaZulu, and have only won one of their last six league games.
As the table stands, Polokwane are currently occupying the final place in the top eight, sitting three points above Maritzburg United, University of Pretoria and Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Ea Lla Koto, meanwhile, have gone seven league games without a win since they beat Platinum Stars in December last year, having failed to win a match in 2015 which has seen them plummet down the standings.
Their most recent league action also resulted in a defeat to AmaZulu, a 1-0 loss in Durban two weeks ago.
The two sides will be looking to their main men up front for goals, the Citizen’s Puleng Tloane and Stars’ Moeketsi Sekola both have 10 goals in the league this season and are joint second on the top goal-scorer’s list.
The home team will be without the suspended Lebohang Motumi for this game, while Stars do not have any suspensions but do have Angelo Kerspuy, Bokang Tlhone and Tumelo Letuka one booking away from being forced to miss a match.
Polokwane also have two key players one yellow card away from suspension, with the influential Cole Alexander and Sipho Jembula walking the tight-rope.
