Cape Town - AmaZulu and Moroka Swallows have lost their application to suspend the PSL playoffs, which are due to start on Sunday.
"The South Gauteng High Court this afternoon struck the urgent application brought by AmaZulu FC and Moroka Swallows FC off the roll"- the PSL tweeted on Saturday.
To add further insult to injury, the two PSL clubs have been ordered to pay the PSL's costs incurred in opposing the applicaton.
The two clubs brought the urgent application after the PSL was rocked by match-fixing allegations earlier this week.
The match-fixing claims surround the PSL's relegation battle which saw AmaZulu relegated on the final day of fixtures while Moroka Swallows, who finished second-last, have a chance to remain in the PSL by winning the play-offs involving NFD sides Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos.
The PSL Promotion play-off fixtures are due to begin on Sunday when Black Leopards host Jomo Cosmos at the Thohoyandou Stadium.
The PSL CEO, Brand de Villiers, confirmed that the playoffs will kick-off as scheduled.
“We are pleased with the decision by the High Court because we can now carry on with the Promotion Play-offs as scheduled." said De Villiers.
"The League has always been of the view that the investigations into the allegations of misconduct have no bearing to the Promotional Play-off fixtures.
"Unfortunately, because of the application by Amazulu FC and Moroka Swallows FC, the Prosecutor, who is conducting the internal investigation, had to divert his attention to the High Court process thus delaying the internal investigation.”
