Cape Town - Kosta Papic is often criticised for not winning enough trophies but while the Polokwane City coach admits that silverware is important, he says that developing players is what brings him satisfaction.
Papic is a well-known advocate for attacking football and he believes that his style allows players to flourish.
“My philosophy is very simple - if you want to win the match you must score one more goal than your opponent,” he tells Sport24.
“My team will never approach the match to play a draw or be happy to lose 1-0.
“Winning is the most important of course, but if you manage to combine winning and beautiful football then that is a perfect thing, that is what I want to do.
“If you take a player who played most of his career defensive football and you give him freedom to play offensive and he starts to be recognised in the country, that is success for me.
“Jabulani Maluleke, Cole Alexander, those kind of players,” Papic said with pride.
Polokwane City play Bloemfontein Celtic in their first fixture of the PSL season at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on August 8.
