Platinum stars braced for Sundowns clash

Cape Town - Defending MTN8 champions Platinum Stars begin their quest to retain their title against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

Platinum Stars won the 2013 MTN8 after defeating Orlando Pirates on penalties in the final.

As Dikwena gear up to face the PSL champions Sundowns in the first round of this year's competition, coach Allan Freese is confident that his side is ready for the season ahead.

According to the club's official website, Freese is well aware of the quality players that Sundowns have but is happy with his side's pre-season training and hopes that his side will stand up well to the challenge.

“We are a bit of a different team from last year with some new players, and our big task has been to try and get the new players used to our style of play as soon as possible, but we will keep playing as we have in the last few years which has proved successful for us, we might just change things a little bit here and there for certain games."

“Ultimately though we will keep on attacking and keep on trying to win games with positive play.”

Sundowns host Platinum Stars at Loftus Versveld on Saturday with the match getting underway at 15:00.
