Pitso praises Pirates

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have unexpectedly been labelled the best team in South Africa by a local rival ahead of the 2014/15 PSL season.

KickOff.com are reporting that Pitso Mosimane has labelled rivals Orlando Pirates as the best team in South Africa due their continental success.

Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane feels that his side needs to win the African Champions League before the two rivals can be fairly compared.

Pirates reached the final of the 2013 edition of African Champions League but lost 3-1 on aggregate to Al Ahly.

The Sea Robber won the title in 1995.

Now coach Mosimane wants his Sundowns team to emulate Pirates' continental success and will gladly entertain comparisons between the sides.

"We have won many PSL titles, more than anybody else. We also hope to put the star so that we can properly compare ourselves to Pirates," said Mosimane.

Mamelodi Sundowns open their 2014/15 PSL season against Maritzburg United on August 8.
