Dolisie - Ahead of their crucial CAF Confederation Cup clash against AC Leopards of Congo, Brazzaville, Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo said the Buccaneers intend to surpass the efforts of their 2013 Champions League run when they overcame heavy odds.
That year, Pirates reached the CAF Champions League final before losing to Al Ahly of Egypt under Roger De Sa as coach.
Pirates and Leopards will square-off in their first Group B clash at Dolisie Stadium in Congo on Saturday afternoon.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper believes the Happy People will be motivated by their previous success in the continental showpiece.
“The plan was not to reach the group stages only,” said Mhlongo.
“Obviously we really want to surpass what we have managed to achieve back in 2013.
“Because we had a tremendous run back then and it was just unfortunate that we lost to Al Ahly in the final.
“So we want to do more and obviously (do so) without putting pressure on ourselves. We’ll just take it one game at a time.”
