Pirates stars in 'punch-up'

Johannesburg - Two prominent Orlando Pirates players have been arrested for an alleged punch-up in Sandton early on Saturday, reports the Sowetan.

Police Captain Pinky Tsinyane said the pair was arrested after allegedly assaulting a 26-year-old man.

"A case of assault and theft was opened," said Tsinyane, adding that the players were out on R1 000 bail each.

Their identities cannot be revealed before they appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Pirates have confirmed the arrest of the duo.

Bucs spokesperson Mickey Modisane said: "The details are still sketchy, we are going meet the players to get to the bottom of this matter. We will also launch an investigation".

The arrest comes a month after Sowetan carried an article saying partying Pirates' players worry club chairman Irvin Khoza. It is alleged that partying is part of the reason the league champions have been blowing hot and cold.
