Cape Town – Boroka FC chairman, Khurishi Mphahlele, confirmed that Orlando Pirates have secured the services of Gift Motupa.

Sport24 reported earlier in the week that Pirates were on the verge signing the midfielder on a permanent basis.

The midfielder was part of Bafana Bafana’s short-lived COSAFA Cup campaign and played in the penalty shoot-out defeat to Botswana.

According to Soccer Laduma, Mphahlele says that he met with Dr. Irvin Khoza and agreed a deal in principle.

“It’s true (Motupa is joining Pirates). Like I said in the past, Orlando Pirates is the only team that approached me. The other teams were just running to you (the media) without coming to me,” said Motupa.

“Dr. Irvin Khoza is the one chairman who is respecting the business. I appreciate the way he is running his business. I had a meeting with Dr. Khoza on Tuesday last week. We agreed in principle. We are just waiting for the lawyer to draft the contract then everything will be finalised.”
