Pirates out to climb PSL table

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates will look to continue their fine form in the Absa Premiership when they host Platinum Stars at Orlando Stadium.

Pirates extended their unbeaten run in the league to 11 matches with a 2-1 home win over Black Aces last month.

The Soweto side has claimed 23 points from 12 home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Bidvest Wits (away), University of Pretoria and SuperSport United (both home).

The Buccaneers are placed third on the Absa Premiership log with 43 points from 24 matches.

Stars claimed a third league win from their last four matches when they defeated Ajax Cape Town 2-1 on the weekend.

The Rustenburg side has claimed 10 points from 11 away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are SuperSport United (home), Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu (both away).

Dikwena are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with 27 points from 23 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Pirates and Stars have met in 23 league matches since 2003/04.

The Buccaneers have 14 wins compared to one for Dikwena, while eight matches have been drawn.

Pirates have won six of their 11 home matches against Stars, suffering one defeat in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, goals from Majoro and Bacela took Bucs to a 2-0 win in Rustenburg.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday, April 8.
