Pirates 'deserve' PSL title

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs feels the Premiership champions deserve to retain the league title.

The Sea Robbers, who are seeking to emulate last term's treble, moved three points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns at the summit with a 2-1 win over SuperSport United in Polokwane on Tuesday.

Downs, however, can reclaim top spot should they sink off-form Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.

"I think we deserve this title again this season," Josephs told Bucs' website. "We have done well in the second round of the league and deservedly got to where we are.

"After this massive win against United, we have to keep focused and play to win our next two matches (against Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows). If we win all our matches, then we stand a great chance of winning the league again," concluded the former Ajax Cape Town net-minder.

Pirates have already claimed MTN8 and Nedbank Cup honours this season.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
