Johannesburg - Ahead of their Telkom Knockout semi-final against SuperSport United on Saturday night, Orlando Pirates' Public Relations Officer Mickey Modisane admitted that the club missed goalkeeper and skipper Senzo Meyiwa in training this week.
Meyiwa was laid to rest at Heroes' Acre in KwaZulu-Natal last weekend.
“It was hard at training this week for everyone,” Modisane told Sport24 in an exclusive interview.
“The boys are really working hard and trying to motivate each other. But we really missed Senzo already at training.
“We are missing his laughter and noise in camp. But all in all, we have to soldier on.
“It is still hard but we’ll pull through and whoever the coach decides to field tomorrow (Saturday) I’m sure they will do a good job for the team.”
The Buccaneers will play their first match after Meyiwa’s death when they host Matsatsantsa at the Orlando Stadium.
They will be looking to advance to their sixth consecutive cup final.
Kick-off is scheduled for 20:15.
