Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse says he is ready to
step up should he get the call for this weekend's crunch Premiership
encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns.
With preferred choice Brilliant Khuzwayo having been away with Bafana Bafana since last week, and Itumeleng Khune only recently resuming full training following a lengthy injury, Pieterse has been the only keeper available to Amakhosi in the build up to Saturday's encounter.
That means Pieterse is likely to be stand between the sticks at the FNB Stadium, where the Glamour Boys will be looking to add to their 11-point lead at the top of the PSL standings when they take on the defending champions.
"For us, we just have to continue taking it a game at a time. We prepare for everyone the same way but we focus on one game as it comes," the shot stopper told Football411.
"I think we've prepared well even without the guys who are with the national team. The good thing is that when they come back they know what to do and what is expected of them.
"As a team we know what's expected of us, it is not going to be an easy game but we know what to do because we're primed for it.
"I think we're ready and we will do the best we can do to get the maximum points."
When asked whether he was keen to face the Brazilians, Pieterse said: "Of course, if I get called on Saturday to play, I'm willing to do so and, even if I'm not, I will support whoever is in the goals because they would do the same for me if it was me playing."
