Johannesburg - Following their bad start to the 2014/15 PSL season, Orlando Pirates defender Patrick Phungwayo believes that the Buccaneers are not under any pressure to beat Kaizer Chiefs this weekend.
The two Soweto giants will battle for three points at the FNB stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Phungwayo, 26, told Sport24 in an exclusive interview that the arch rivals will enter the pitch with an ambition to claim the maximum points on the day.
"There is no pressure for us to beat Chiefs on Saturday at all," Phungwayo told Sport24
"In fact both teams are always under pressure while playing against each other.
"The pressure won’t be only on Pirates but Chiefs will also be under a lot of pressure to deliver.
"I’m telling you this because we all want to win games especially derby matches.
"There will be a lot of expectations especially from the supporters of both teams.
"Both teams want to win and claim the three points and also earn the bragging rights for their loyal supporters at the end of the game.
"We will do our best as a team to win, so that we can at least close the gap on them."
Pirates are currently sixth on the log and trailing the Amakhosi by 15 points.
The two sides last met in an MTN8 Final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in September where Chiefs walked away 1-0 victors courtesy of Tefu Mashemaite’s goal.
Kick-off is set for 15:30.
