Cape Town - Despite reports that Orlando Pirates left-back Patrick Phungwayo's contract at the team has come to an end we can report that he has been offered a new three-year deal.

Phungwayo has just received a call-up to Shakes Mashaba’s Bafana squad alongside fellow Bucs left-back, Thabo Matlaba.
A source close to the club said that Pirates tied the player down when they heard and noticed that other Absa Premiership teams are interested in him.
"Phungwayo has been given a three-year deal with an option of an extra year which means he will be at the team until 2019,” the source told Sport24.
“If he goes, then Pirates will have to sell him and he won't be going for free at all. He is not a free agent as other people are made to believe," the source insisted.
Phungwayo’s stay will please The Ghost as the competition for places keeps both him and Matlaba on their toes.
