Phiri: We gave away too many opportunities

Cape Town - Free State Stars head coach Kinnah Phiri bemoaned the 1-2 loss they experienced against Ajax Cape Town.

Phiri said although the team played well compared to their last game against Kaizer Chiefs which resulted in a 0-4 loss to Ea Lla Koto, they could have done more to avoid conceding goals.

The FS Stars mentor said that the team has good players but they opened a lot of gaps which gave the Urban Warriors the opportunity to score and added that they awarded the opposition a point that could have been avoided if they had played accordingly.

“The team played well than their last game, the only problem was that we allowed the last two set pieces,” he said after the press conference.

“We gave the free kicks to the opposition which were not supposed to have done.

“I like believe that we have good players.

“They just couldn’t take off and the opposition used that to their advantage.

“We gave them a point and that’s something we have to deal with now.

“I am only hoping that we are able to redeem ourselves; we cannot be falling behind at the start of the season.

“We will just have to work harder and see the results.”
