Phala has organised the tournament in conjunction with the Soweto Football Association on national Youth Day.

In 1976, on June 16th, high school students in Soweto were shot down by police after protesting against the Bantu education system and against being taught in Afrikaans.

The Bafana Bafana player said the tournament will start at 9:00 and run until 17:00 on the day.

He said they are grateful to the Soweto Football Association for helping them host the tournament.

"We had the tournament last year as well and we are looking at a better tournament this time around,” Phala told Sport24.

“We want to encourage the youth of Soweto to be part of this tournament through their teams.

“We want to give back to the community by giving the youth the chance to play and showcase their talent.

“We thank the Soweto Football Association for helping in organising the tournament and always making it a success.”
