Cape Town - Following their Nedbank Cup semi-final exit, SuperSport United winger Thuso Phala believes they lost due to a lack of concentration at the back in the dying moments of the game.

Matsatsantsa’s hopes of a Cup double this season came to an end after they went down 2-1 to Ajax Cape Town at Athlone Stadium last Friday.

Phala was on target for Gordon Igesund’s men before Mosa Lebusa and Tashreeq Morris scored in the closing stages of the game.

Phala, 28, later hinted that the Urban Warriors deserved to win the title.

“We can play well for 89 minutes and then make one mistake and get punished,” said Phala.

“That’s what happened to us and that’s how football is and it’s so cruel.

“But we have to take it as it is and move on.

“Good luck to Ajax, they have worked so hard throughout the game and especially in the second half and they were rewarded in the end.

“With all the luck they have been getting in the tournament, I think they deserve to go all the way and win the title.”

Ajax will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup final at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on May 16.
