According to KickOff, Phala has been is scintillating form for Matsatsantsa having a netted an all important goal in the Telkom Knockout final which helped them lift silverware at the end of extra-time.
That form has seen many calling for Phala to be included in the squad that would travel to Equatorial Guinea for AFCON 2015 but the midfielder is solely focussed on SuperSport.
“First of all I must perform for my team and get the result we need and we will see if the call-up comes,” said Phala.
“I wouldn’t be disappointed [if I miss out], but supportive of the guys who are chosen.
“The national team has been doing really well, it will be really unfair of me to be disappointed because they have been doing well, I have supported the team and I’ve not been disappointed.”
However, the 28-year-old added that if the opportunity arises he would grab it with both hands.
“Obviously if the opportunity [of a Bafana recall] arises it will be great, there is another Afcon coming, we have a few games to play in the league and hopefully if I do well and get selected, I will be honoured by that,” said Phala.
