Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Elias Pelembe
insists that the University of Pretoria are not to be trifled with ahead of
their Telkom Knockout fixture.
Mosimane wary of faltering
The tales of both teams have been quite different in the
build-up to this fixture. Sundowns, currently fourth in the Premiership
standings, have won four of their last five matches. Meanwhile Tuks, who are
languishing in the bottom half of the table, have won just one of their last
The circumstances dictate that Bafana Bastyle currently run
the risk of being too complacent, while Tuks are the underdogs, desperate to
salvage something from what has otherwise been a woeful season thus far.
Pelembe thinks the University of Pretoria poses a
significant threat to Sundowns’ cup aspirations and has cautioned his
team-mates against complacency.
"Amatuks are not an easy side to beat and have always
proved tricky especially playing against the big three sides. You really have
to prepare well when coming up against them," Pelembe told the club’s
website on Thursday.
For all their flaws during the current campaign, the one
aspect of Tuks’ game which has caught Pelembe’s attention is their technical
ability and the Downs midfielder thinks that it is only a matter of time before
that it converted into positive results.
"Sticking to our game plan will be very important for
us because we face a very technically disciplined side who are good at counter
attacking football and set pieces. There’s really no room for error,"
added Pelembe, who has featured prominently throughout Sundowns’ season.
Sundowns’ next game is in the Telkom Knockout Challenge when
try avoid first round exit against University of Pretoria on Saturday, October
4 at 17:30.
